Sustainable Market Transformation for Energy Efficiency in Buildings (SMARTEE-B)
Today (20.3.2026), a hybrid meeting was held at the India Habitat Centre (IHC), Lodhi Road, New Delhi, with representatives of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) and the Executive Director, BMTPC, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), to deliberate on the project outline and timeline of the IKI project titled “Sustainable Market Transformation for Energy Efficiency in Buildings (SMARTEE-B)” submitted by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). The project has successfully cleared the selection process under the thematic priority “Building Energy Efficiency: Business Models for Scaling Energy Efficiency Measures.”
During the discussions, Shri Arvind Kumar, Executive Director, BMTPC, suggested exploring the inclusion of eligible beneficiaries from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban as key stakeholders in the project. He further recommended undertaking Demonstration Housing Projects (DHPs) to showcase quantifiable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions through the application of both active and passive energy efficiency strategies, with a view to facilitating replication and informing policy outcomes across other States/UTs under the SMARTEE-B project. Shri C.N. Jha, also suggested the application of insulation for improving attic thermal performance.
