Low-Carbon Buildings (LCB) Training Modules
Capacity development is a key component of the Asia Low Carbon Buildings Transition (ALCBT) Project, supporting the shift towards low-carbon buildings (LCB) in targeted countries. This initiative fosters collaboration between the public and private sectors while equipping professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to drive sustainable building practices.
As part of this effort, a 30-hour structured professional LCB Training Program is being implemented across project countries. This program enhances technical expertise in low-carbon building design, construction, operation, and financing. It also covers critical topics such as carbon emissions reduction, building energy efficiency and management, and low-carbon building assessment, empowering professionals in the building sector.
The training modules are aligned with global standards and best practices, integrating insights from stakeholder consultations, data-driven analyses, and expert reviews. To promote accessibility and knowledge sharing, these modules are now openly available to all —professionals, students, and anyone interested in sustainable building practices.

Capacity Building component of Asia Low Carbon Buildings Transition (ALCBT) Project
Capacity building is a core component of the Asia Low Carbon Buildings Transition (ALCBT) Project. Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), in collaboration with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and HEAT International, is conducting nationwide training programs on Low Carbon Buildings (LCBs), aiming to train 2,120 professionals across the building ecosystem by 2027.
As part of this initiative, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) has empaneled Master Trainers (MTs) to deliver training programs across India. These MTs serve as key knowledge providers to specific target groups under this project. The empanelment of Master Trainers is valid until the conclusion of the project, which is scheduled for August 2028.
As an initial step, GGGI, in partnership with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), has successfully certified 123 Master Trainers (having female MTs 32%). These trainers have been equipped with essential knowledge, strategies, tools, and practices to effectively deliver LCB training programs. They will engage with diverse stakeholders including building developers, architects, ESCOs, engineers, material manufacturers, technology providers, government bodies, and financial institutions across India. The following guidelines apply to all empaneled Master Trainers
Guidelines for Master Trainers
-
Project-Specific Role: Master Trainers are designated exclusively for the Asia Low Carbon Buildings Transition (ALCBT) Project.
-
Compliance: Trainers must adhere to the terms and conditions set forth by GGGI for conducting training sessions.
-
Training Content: Trainers may use the official training modules developed by GGGI. They are encouraged to supplement these with their own expertise tailored to the needs of the target audience.
-
Commercial Restrictions: Trainers must refrain from engaging in any direct or indirect commercial activities under the scope of this project.
-
Dynamic Listing: The list of Master Trainers is subject to periodic updates based on project requirements.
-
Ethical Conduct: Any form of bribery or unethical behavior in delivering training is strictly prohibited.
About the Project
The ALCBT Project is designed to support the transition to Low Carbon Buildings across five Asian countries, including India. It promotes the adoption of technical, planning, and institutional tools for LCBs, with active involvement from both public and private sector stakeholders. The project aims to achieve a reduction of 0.72 Mt CO₂e emissions by August 2028.
In India, the project is being implemented in the states of Kerala, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh under the guidance of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA)
